What value can be put on a human mind? How Joe Roberts does what he does is a mystery. He has a brain that seems able to outperform a computer. To a games company like Venstrom that promises big profits if his abilities can be properly exploited. So they send Nicole Nevinson to track him down and make him an offer too good to refuse. This is a typical Robert Goddard thriller.
A young man called Joe Roberts is being head hunted for his great IT skills. He plays a game called GO similar to Chess. He is able to beat the Super Computers.
A big Corporate IT company called Venstorm send a nice young lady called Nicole Nevinson down to Cornwall to offer him a deal. His existing Boss doesn't want to lose him and is prepared to play dirty tricks to keep him.
There are a few shady characters who come out the woodwork, There is a good character called Duncan Forrester who is an old spy he has a soft spot for Joe and his Mum, When people start getting killed he takes Nicole under his wing explains about all the dodgy stuff that happened in the late 1980s and reckons one of his old colleagues is in bed with the Chinese. They need to frame him to stop him taking Joe to China.

I got a bit lost halfway through the book it seemed to take a different direction and I didnt really care in the end what happened. Basically Duncan Forrester saved the day stops the Baddies. Joe and Nicole are ok. Although Nicole looks like she will lose her job. ( )

Nicole goes to Cornwall to recruit a genius GO player, Joe, for the games company she works for and discovers others also want him for his skills and don't care who gets in the way. Ingenious if far-fetched plot which keeps you guessing. ( )

Go is an ancient Chinese game of strategy, long believed to provide challenges for the most brilliant minds. Played worldwide it sorts the wheat from the chaff. And Joe Roberts is definitely brilliant, to the point where he can outwit the computer. Joe is only known to have been beaten once. When games company Venstrom detects Joe's ability through his constant winning of their games online, they decide they must have him, and they send Nicole to make him an offer.

But others high in the world of Artificial Intelligence have become aware of Joe's abilities too and are determined to gain control of his mind.

But the plot lost me when it transitioned into the world of international espionage, and I had trouble with credibility. ( )
