Surely that is a myth, right? Wrong! This really happened to a man in New York. Apparently climbing through the pipes in a 16-story apartment is just another day in the life of a rat. They are able to squeeze through a hole the size of a quarter and can swim for days. Some rats are even responsible for destroying whole villages. In the case of the plague known as Black Death in the 1300s in Europe, they are believed to be the harbors of the parasite that killed a third of the population. This is just one “fun” topic in this book of yuck! There are many more that will leave readers wanting to explore gross facts. This book would be a great addition to an upper-elementary or middle school classroom library. If used in the classroom - it could definitely be used for reluctant readers. It could also be used in science classes as the "information tidbit" of the day. Could be a jumping off point for research - if students have to do some kind of research project in science, but don't know what to focus on, these articles might peak their interest enough to want to learn more. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
