The story begins with a young woman, Anne Norris. Anne is an historic tour guide in Savanna, Georgia with a checkered past. She is originally from California but she has left her life and family there to start fresh in a place where no one knows her name. She even takes on the work name of Anne Bonny, a famous pirate and privateer from the 1800’s just to give her an extra layer of anonymity.

Like most pirate tales you will definitely find treasure, romance, sunken ships, wild goose chases, and a story that draws you in to see what happens next. This story is about Anne and a man named Carter Hale who find themselves in search of a long forgotten ship that went down in the area. Carter holds original journals passed down through his family of a woman who was aboard that ship. He is overjoyed when Anne walks in with a piece of history she found just after a hurricane in the area. This sets them on a journey to save a museum, find a piece of history believed lost to the community forever, and a treasure far greater than gold as they both seek forgiveness and peace with their past and their families.

It is a well written fascinating story that will entice the treasure hunter in all of us! ( )

I won this book as a goodreads first-read giveaway. I really enjoyed this romance. The characters were appealing and realistic. They both are entranced with a story from the past. I liked the style of writing, where we read this story along with the female protagonist. ( )

This was a fun exciting read! Anne has made some bad choices. Finding it difficult to face the shame and embarrassment in her home town, she moves away for a new start. Just wanting to, well hide, she comes to Savannah, Georgia hoping for a fresh start. There she attempts to start a tour company. Dressed up in pirate garb she takes tourists, hungry for adventure, on excursions to historical spots, regaling them with stories of famous pirates. The picture of cute girl on the front with the sassy look definitely captured Anne’s personality!
Struggling with her finances a facing defeat she was very discouraged, until while walking on the beach after a storm she finds a sword hilt sticking out of the sand. She hopes it will be of great value and allow her to remain in Georgia. She sneaks our Carter Hale, the director of a small museum that was also facing a lack of funds. He believes the hilt may prove the shipwreck of a famous pirate ship that had never been proven to exist. They consult a pirate’s diary from 1750 for clues. Journal entries from book are shown throughout the story. This I really enjoyed!!! It added to the excitement!
While Carter and Anne are both on the same page about verifying shipwreck and the hilt’s authenticity they are going in totally different directions in other areas. This causes conflicts in their budding relationship. Aunt Tessie was precious. Her scriptural wisdom and sweet spirit drew me to her character. All in all, God clearly has a plan for both Carter and Anne to heal from wounds they are carrying. ( )

Liz Johnson is quickly becoming an author whose books I don't want to miss out on! This is my second book by her, but I can't wait to dive into her previous works."A Glitter of Gold" was more than a good book. It told the stories of more than one real-to-life character, showcasing their realities and rawness in such a beautiful way.Main character, Anne Norris, has a painful past she can't seem to outrun. Throughout the novel, we see her trying to find freedom. Carter Hale is looking for his own sort of freedom and rescue. How their stories intertwine, and bond together with a story from the past is just lovely.I *loved* the diary entries ending a majority of the chapters - they belonged to the story of the past and that story was just enthralling, and captivated my heart right from the start. I could picture the characters in my head so vividly, and I was just in love with it all.The sweet and gentle faith message was well written, and I enjoyed seeing how the story tied up at the end. So good. ( )
