Dark and disturbing, just how I like it. ( )

Shocking, stark, terrifying, dark, in your face reality, poignant, graphic, unrelenting.....this short story collection is not for the faint of heart. Each story raised my eyebrows, made me pause, made me feel & think. These stories come from humanity's deepest instincts, of fear, of hatred, of sensuality and of loneliness. The writing is incredible, perhaps one of the most evocative writers I have read. I just wasn't quite prepared for the intensity. Brutally brilliant! ( )

Dark, visceral, often gruesome—all about the pull of blood and violence and how hard it can be to connect to another human being—but also kind of thrilling and very effectively written, without bells and whistles. I read straight through without blinking. Not for the faint of heart, but weirdly wonderful. ( )
