Love this book. The fat representation is very, very good. Ireland is a size 18 & has a love/hate relationship with her body. She has been learning to be happy with herself & finds herself with two men who are very happy to get to know her. The Misadventures books are fairly short, so the story & action flows quickly. I really like that the men are in a relationship together first & bring Ireland in, instead of pretending the men never touch except through the woman. I like that there are no labels. Simone made me feel Ireland’s pain when she was having self doubts, when she read what people were saying about her. I also felt her joy when she seemed to find herself. ( )

Delightful fat-girl fantasy smut. Our intrepid heroine, Ireland, is a size 18 who has been made to feel defective and weak all her life by family and boys because of her weight. Then she has a love at first sight (not my favorite trope) interlude with two boys who operate as a unit. Both are impossibly handsome, sweet, fit and of course monstrously endowed college graduates who take care of old ladies and 3-legged dogs and who want to dedicate themselves 100% to Ireland's pleasure out-and-(mostly) in bed. This is smutty as all get out, and I say that in the most laudatory possible sense. Sometimes smut is what you are looking for. I thought it would be a 5-star until close to the end when it went from being super sexy to super fraught and melodramatic and I got bored. Though it ends with a (literal and figurative) bang, the wailing and weeping and body-positive fairy godmother stuff that preceded that ending got on my nerves so it lost a star. That said, this is the most honest books I have ever read about what it means to be a fat educated professional woman and how the messaging creeps under your skin and makes you limit your own options. Brave and smart and lovely and sexy as hell -- what's not to like? ( )
