I loved the twists and turns that Noelle and Daniel go through during this harrowing journey. They learn a lot about each other before falling in love. I enjoyed the romance and the adventure. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. Get ready for a wilderness adventure. Misty M. Beller excels at dropping readers into a rugged setting and bringing the dangers to life—from nature to wildlife and more—and This Courageous Journey is no exception. When Noelle Grant’s plans are changed, her faith shines through as she takes her decision to God. No, it may not have been the first thing she did, but how many of us have been in the same place? A big decision in front of us that we try to work out on our own until we take it to God for direction? Through the treacherous trek across the Canadian Rockies, both Noelle and Daniel Abrams, a man of little faith who is guiding Noelle, both must lean heavily on the truth that God is in the midst of trials and tribulations. While this book is book four in the series, it stands alone well while fans of Beller’s previous Heart of the Mountains books will enjoy seeing some familiar names. This Courageous Journey will get your heart racing with multiple situations of life-threatening situations that leave you breathless (or at least short of breath). This is a wonderful historical novel set in the gorgeous west with mountains, valleys, rivers, plains and many beautiful views. Noelle, a budding journalist who wants to stand out, is heading to stay with her oldest brother in Canada. Traveling in 1854 was interesting, difficult, challenging and just simply beautiful at times. A guide was a necessity, or death would be sure to follow. Leadership, strength and integrity were some of the qualities needed and Daniel certainly had those. But was he humble enough to accept help from others and more importantly from the Lord? The author has done a great job of keeping you at the edge of you seat through lightning storms, torrential rain, snow and even blizzards. Was it possible they would safely reach their destination? I received this ebook through CelebrateLit and this review gives my personal impressions and opinions. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"As the fifth daughter in a family of nine, Noelle Grant spent her life striving to be unique. Her love of telling stories helps define her goal--to be known around the country as one of the top news correspondents of her time. And what better way to uncover sensational tales than to travel through the mountain wilderness to visit her brother? The trip comes together perfectly as she journeys with family friends who will be settling in the same area. Her first inkling that things may not be as perfect as she'd imagined shows up in the form of the mountain man hired as their guide for the final leg of the journey. When Daniel Abrams agrees to guide the small group of easterners along his usual route northward to the Canadian mountains, his gut tells him he's making a terrible decision. But if he doesn't take them, who will? The crew's leader refuses to consider turning back. As they start out, Daniel can't help but notice the woman traveling under the care of her friends. Though she appears too genteel to last long in these mountains, she soon reveals a strength that draws him more than he should allow. When the dangers of this wilderness become more than the group bargained for, Noelle must choose to delay her trip northward or proceed alone with the man she's come to trust against all reason. She never dreams her decision will place her--and the man she loves--in a situation more hazardous than any story her imagination could conjure."--Back cover. Daniel is a good man who has taken on the task of getting Noelle safely to her destination. He is very good at steering Noelle in the mountains and watching out for her. I loved reading about the wilderness and having to hunt for food. The author paints a perfect picture of what it was like to be out there in the snow, rain and rough terrain. I love the mountains, but I'm sure I couldn't have survived what Noelle and Daniel went through.
The story does not lack adventure when Noelle finds herself having to step up and help Daniel out when an injury occurs. Her courage was incredible and I loved how she never gave up. Her love for God was evident and she relied on Him to keep her going. She started her journey as a young woman who was unsure of herself to a confidant woman who continued with her journey, even though obstacles tried to stop her. I would love to have the courage she had. The story showed me how God is always there and faith will sustain you.
Daniel and Noelle each go through trials and I admired how they leaned on each other, but also turned to God. There is romance in the book but it certainly isn't the focus of the story. If you are looking for a story about determination, courageous and trust, this is the perfect book to read.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. ( )
