Nonagenarian Vegetarian Peter Brown is in his nineties but still looks and feels like a younger man, and he puts it down to the predominantly vegetarian diet he now enjoys with a passion. A keen amateur in the kitchen, Peter has compiled this book of easy-to-make, tasty recipes which he is convinced will help you, too, to live a longer and healthier life like he has. Persuaded by his daughter, Peter changed his lifestyle and diet almost overnight and the results for him have been astonishing in terms of both his physical and mental health. He gave up all gluten and dairy products, sugar (or products containing sugar), all refined oils (except extra virgin olive oil), all processed foods containing chemicals or additives, meat, fish, and alcohol. This dramatic change produced dramatic results which have continued. Then, he weighed 81 kilos; today he is a constant 68 to 69 kilos. Then, he had diabetes 2, a condition he understood to be irreversible, but he is now no longer diabetic. In general terms he is extremely well. His brain is alert and he has the energy and enthusiasm of a much younger man. He faces the future into his nineties with optimism and confidence; all of which he attributes to the decision taken to change his lifestyle and diet. In short he is full of joie de vivre and is enjoying his life. Now that his body is accustomed to the diet change he does occasionally eat chicken or fish (the key word is occasionally) and drinks a glass of red wine with his meals. Otherwise he is happy with his vegetarian diet, which he now prefers. In his book of 180 pages are 90 recipes, almost wholly vegetarian. They are explained simply and are easy to make. They show vegetarian meals do not have to be bland or boring. With the judicious use of spices, herbs, root ginger and preserved lemon they can be tasty, delicious and richly satisfying as well as healthy and life-enhancing. If you are lacking energy and enthusiasm for life, or perhaps are having to cope with diabetes 2 or the threat thereof, then buy this book and give these recipes a try. Like Peter, you too may be astonished at the results after changing your diet.… (más)
