Great story (well, collected series of novellas) with a very intriguing premise and a touching end. ( ) I enjoyed these novellas. I liked the mysteries that Stephen was investigating and I loved all of his different aspects. I also liked that the overall story arc was how although he was functioning in the world, his situation was not normal and sustainable. To watch him evolve as the three stories went on was interesting and gave me things to think about. Overall, I thought the books were fun. The author makes it clear that Stephen's condition was unique and that psychologists in the story were unable to diagnose him with a known mental illness, so I read it as more of a fantasy story rather than a real story about mental illness. The book is a collection of three novellas that comprise the story of Stephen Leeds, a sort of genius private investigator with schizophrenia (he sees and converses with hallucinatory people in his mind). He uses these hallucinatory "aspects" to help him solve cases. The overall arc connecting these stories is pretty loose and the book might have benefited from bit more context and backstory but it was still an enjoyable read with a good finish. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"A genius of unrivaled aptitude, Stephen can learn any new skill, vocation, or art in a matter of hours. However, to contain all of this, his mind creates hallucinatory people--Stephen calls them aspects--to hold and manifest the information. Wherever he goes, he is joined by a team of imaginary experts to give advice, interpretation, and explanation. He uses them to solve problems . . . for a price. His brain is getting a little crowded and the aspects have a tendency of taking on lives of their own. When a company hires him to recover stolen property--a camera that can allegedly take pictures of the past--Stephen finds himself in an adventure crossing oceans and fighting terrorists. What he discovers may upend the foundation of three major world religions--and, perhaps, give him a vital clue into the true nature of his aspects Legion: The Many Lives of Stephen Leeds includes Legion, Legion: Skin Deep and the brand new, shocking finale to Leeds' story, Lies of the Beholder"-- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
