This was a reread of the first book in my favorite series of books as a child. I thought there was no way I could still love it so much and was ready to donate these beloved books so some other child could fall in love with them. But, wow, do I still love this series. The first 50 pages or so of this book are a little slow, but once the mystery of who's following Vanessa picks up, it becomes a quick read. I read it in three sittings.

What I love most about this book is how relatable Vanessa is. She's a confident girl with a loving parent. She's a good student, but she'll skip school for a good time. She's into a guy, but she'll forget that guy in a heartbeat for her friends. She's not overly brave or foolish, she's not trying to be the best at anything. She's just a good kid. As someone who has a hard time readying a lot of YA because of characterization issues, Vanessa will always be a refreshing character to follow.

Despite her feeling like a freak because of her invisibility, she has a quiet confidence and self-assurance that shines through. When people tell her rumors, she listens but keeps an open mind and discovers the truth for herself. When boys touch her inappropriately, she addresses it in the moment. When her friends pressure her to do things, she's comfortable refusing...unless it's something she secretly wants to do herself. She's just cool and normal and nice. I love her.

There's so much to say about the world Ewing created and set this in and all of the other beautiful characters, but I'll save that for another review as I work my way through the series again. ( )

Tianna is the focus of this installment in the Daughters of the Moon series as the story is near to it's conclusion. She has always felt different from the other Daughters as she was not born one, she was given the honour as a teenager by Maggie. She has the power of telekinesis and had to run from the Atrox's followers as a young child. Her family was murdered when she was young and she lives in foster care with two other children. She has never really settled and is beginning to feel the need to move on despite her friends and boyfriend who she really cares about.

The other girls in the school are jealous of her immense beauty and her boyfriend is starting to get jealous when rumours begin about her being with other guys. The two Followers who have been chasing her for years, Justin and Mason, return but this time they want to warn Tianna and help her. Apparently she is Becoming and it is up to her to figure out what this means and if there is a way to stop it. Every Daughter has a dark side and Tianna feels herself changing. Is her dark side trying to take over her?

So close to finishing the series, this wraps up Tianna's story nicely. The one complaint I did feel was that it seemed that it made assumptions about Jimena that I don't remember from previous books. Tianna was never one of my favourite characters just because she wasn't one of the original daughters and we didn't get to spend as much time with her. I did enjoy it overall though. ( )

Tianna's telekinesis is spiraling out of control and pusing her to make a huge choice.
This is cheesy romance for teenagers. The story clicks along, but there isn't really anything new here. It is very reminiscent of the movie The Craft, except the characters are called goddesses instead of witches. One thing that sets it apart, though is the intricate detail given over to the fashion, especially in the first chapters before the plot gets going. All in all, a fun read, but not great literature.
This perhaps only belongs in public libraries, as it will be hard for a school librarian to justify something this fluffy. Subject matter may upset some parents, but it's no worse than anything on prime time TV. ( )

The boook the becoming is about a beautiful goddess of the moon. She is just like a regular teenage girl with regular teenage problems. Accept she had powers and she is on her way to becoming. she doesnt know what the becoming is or what it does but she is going to. she goes through a bunch of problems with her powers and strange things start occuring. Tianna pressed against thedusty door-jamb and studied the faces of the kids strolling up and down Melrose Avenue.
