Then it jumps ahead to Adam years later, as he is a successful Philadelphia lawyer who is engaged to be married. But when Adam decides to fulfill his dream and head West to open up his own practice, his fiancee breaks off the marriage and leaves Adam heartbroken and upset one rainy night as he heads home in his carriage. Adam will accidentally kill a woman with his horse and carriage. But he will still head to North Platte, Nebraska to escape his memories. Adam loves his new life but is lonely and seeks a mail order bride. Rachel Mason (who you will meet at the beginning of the story) answers Adam's advertisement and soon this young couple will meet and fall in love and get married. This is when the story really gets interesting. Adam's past will catch up with him and he will truly learn the meaning of "blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy". A lot of good lessons to learn as you read this book. The authors do a great job of presenting the gospel message and always weave it into all their stories; which I enjoy. They also deal with truths that can be applied today and leave the reader feeling good after reading these stories. Each book in the series is a stand alone story and the only link to the other books in the series is that they all deal with mail order brides. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

In 1878 Adam Burke leaves Philadelphia for North Platte, Nebraska. The young lawyer wants to start a new life after being spurned by his fiancee. Adam also has another reason to leave -- he accidentally ran over and killed a woman named Nancy Mason in a thunderstorm. In North Platte he finds success in more ways than one when Rachel Mason answers his ad for a mail order bride. Adam considers the last name an odd coincidence -- but only after their marriage and after they both come to the Lord do they discover the awful truth: Adam killed Rachel's mother. Thanks to a pastor's intervention, Rachel overcomes her shock and bitterness to forgive Adam, just as God forgives us all. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
