Stuart Jenner's job is high stress, high stakes, and everything he's strived for. So why, when the apex of his career is within reach, does he stumble? At his doctor's insistence, he books a privately chartered yacht to sail around the Whitsundays for two weeks of sun, surf, and sex. When his friend-with-benefits bails on him at the last minute, Stuart decides to go alone. Foster Knight left the rat race behind six years ago, bought a yacht, and now calls the Great Barrier Reef his home. Sailing tourists around tropical waters is all in a day's work, and he's never been happier. When his next client arrives alone, the two-week charter will be the most private job he's ever had. Foster can see how stressed and exhausted Stuart is, and he promises him extensive rest and relaxation. Stuart slowly realizes his original plan for two weeks of sun, surf, and sex might not be lost yet. Confined to a yacht, isolated by aqua-colored oceans and the sweltering sun, Stuart and Foster are about to find out just how hot the tropics can get. Contains mature themes.… (más)

I grew to like this more and more as it went on. Great unresolved sexual tension, great steam after, lots of sweet moments. There was one part that felt kind of long, going on about yacht stuff and weather, but it wasn't as dry as it could have been, just not as interesting to me as the rest. There's no mystery or love triangle or anything. Just two people spending quite a bit of time together in tropical seas. Overall great feelings. ( )

Oh I loved this one and the utterly dreamy premise of being able to sail away forever. The author did a wonderful job with the atmosphere of the yacht, the sunshine, and the ocean; Stuart and Foster made so much sense, and their connection was both fun and real. I think the only parts that weren’t my faves were when other people were around these two as they worked best together. ( )

I loved this story even though it was terribly predictable. A sweet, romantic, uncomplicated beach read that left me smiling. The setting was idyllic. Both Stuart and Foster needed saving in their own way. Highly recommended. ( )

Private Charter is set in the Great Barrier Reef and it was a thoroughly entertaining romantic comedy with a setting that was the perfect holiday, contained in the condensed time of 7 hours!

Did I say it's pure romance?! Stuart is a scream with his flirting, and so likeable as he throws himself into life and at Foster.

It was great to read a novel set on the reef - it's a long time since I've been in that setting in a story.

The novel is a lovesong to the waters of the reef. Stuart's holiday heals him, but not half so much as the presence of calm, competent skipper, Foster, a man's man, sexy and with a gentle honourable spirit. Both sides of him are a balm to Stuart's spirit.

It is sad to think that he got to take a holiday, after 5 years, on the verge of a breakdown from anxiety and overwork. Stuart is such a great character - unforgettable and gave me many chuckles - it's earned the novel an extra half star.

The narrator's voice is familiar - Antony Ferguson made a big difference to this novel. I imagine Foster as British, since Antony gives him that accent and Antony is British. I don't recall that this was mentioned in the text, that Foster is a Brit.

I've cut and pasted this from Tantor Media:
Antony Ferguson

AudioFile Earphones Award winner Antony Ferguson is a native of London, England. He is a classically trained actor and has appeared in numerous productions in London, Off-Broadway, and regional theater. As a voice actor, he has over fifty audiobooks to his credit and was recommended by the "All About Romance" Web site as one of the best male narrators at performing female characters. He lives in Los Angeles. ( )
