This is a great book for a young reader, or for a parent to try to explain different kinds of art before a trip to museum or something like that. It could also be used in the classroom to help teach about abstract art. This is definitely a versatile book.

This book is about the alphabet and each letter had a sculpture or art to go along with the beginning of the word.

I liked this book because it not only introduces children to the alphabet and reading, but it also introduces them to an art form not as frequently discussed as some others. I like that all of the photographs are real, especially those of works outside. I like that it includes location, expanding their sense of the world, and I especially liked the piece for the letter K, because it is part of a private collection. This book can lead to many conversations, and is not something to be outgrown. Many pages include words in the text that also begin with the letter, such as A for arrow, the work is abstract, and is by Alexander Calder; G is for giant and the sculpture is in Germany. I know this would have been difficult, but it would also have added another exceptional layer if every page did this.

This is a cute book for children or adults who want to discover more about sculptures or art in general. Guides you through different letters of the alphabet and includes art terminology along with different interpretations of sculptural art. ( )

This book was amazing! I loved that there were such unique elements but the pages were not overfilled with each fact about the various sculptures. It had just enough text to keep a child entertained but not overwhelmed with all the words. The sculptures were very wonderful, too.
