Rhymes Around the Year Dogs Days makes learning about the twelve months of the year fun. There are much imagery and limericks found throughout this book. The dogs' point of view, rhyming, and pictures make this book enjoyable for children. ( )

This was an amazing book. I really liked how the book was written in the dog’s perspective. It really made the book exciting and wonderful. I believe the author did this on purpose, because he knew that children would like it more if a dog was describing what dogs do throughout every month of the year. Even though some of the things the author talks about, a dog wouldn’t be able to do. It would provide an interesting classroom discussion for the students in the classroom. The author made quick and short poems in the perspective of a dog which provides the reader the opportunity to embellish on what the author was talking about. This would make a great writing prompt because the teacher has any month out of the year she could choose from that the students could write on. This is perfect for the purpose of a children’s book, because it allows children to really think about every month and what they’re like. ( )
