It's about the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, where a group of Palestinian terrorists took Israeli athletes hostage and eventually killed them. Reeve takes us through the events leading up to the attack, the attack itself, and the aftermath. And let me tell you, it's intense. But Reeve writes it in such a way that you can't help but be drawn in. He's got a real talent for storytelling. So, if you're looking for a heart-pumping, nail-biting read, "One Day in September" is your book. Just make sure you have a stiff drink nearby. Cheers! ( ) Such a fascinating read. I can't say I was gripped from beginning to end as I became a little lost in some of the political situations between Israel and Palestine. However, for someone who really knows very little about the surrounding unrest between the two it is an accessible account of the 1972 olympic games and the 30 years following the event. I went through a range of emotions whilst reading this, disbelief and shock at the German involvement regarding the hostages and then saddness for the families of everyone involved. Well worth a read and one I will recommend. I recommend reading in one sitting, if you have the time. I read it over a period of weeks and was horribly depressed. This is probably the most thorough account of the '72 Olympics Massacre and Israel's response on the market. The author uses for sources: interviews with survivors and relatives of victims, interviews with authorities involved in the negotiations, and the nearly-4000 pages long German file on the hostage crisis. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
The definitive account of the 1972 Munich Olympics, when 11 Israeli athletes were killed by Palestinian terrorists - or inept German snipers. It covers the seige and massacre, the ensuing recriminations, and the launch of one of the most clinical revenge operations of the century. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
