I had lowkey shoved Clare's books off my reading lists (I loved the Infernal Devices trilogy but was pretty bored by TMI) but this Alec and Magnus romp across Europe was just super fun! Clare and Chu have weaved banter, daring hijinks, cute characters, and a cult all into one delightful story that has made me want to read more in the series (I'll just skip all the Clary & Jace stuff humdrum lol). ( ) Wanting just to have a period of time to develop their relationship, mage Magnus and Shadowhunter Alec are embarking on a vacation through Europe. But of course, there would not be a fun story if their trip was smooth and uninterrupted. Starting in Paris they are interfered with by the Cult of the Scarlet Hand-- a group Magnus started decades ago. read 1/12/2024 I really loved diving into this new series. It was a bit of adjustment to me to realize when this book was actually set way back during the city of bones series. I really liked seeing the very start of alec and magus realtionship. It was a book the captured me from page one. I really liked seeing smaller characters from different parts of the series overall. I loved how this book really focused on their relationship and the challenged that come with it. I thought this book was such a fun adventure story and remind me alot of the small scope of characters like in tower of dawn. It was fun read and one that really focused on their realtionship. I am really excited for book 2! I really loved diving into this new series. It was a bit of adjustment to me to realize when this book was actually set way back during the city of bones series.
