Each tale pulls readers deeper into the abyss. Desperate Play amplifies the chill factor. Wyatt finds himself at the center of a scary situation. Who do you trust, when it seems like the whole world is against you? Freethy intensifies the fear as the danger level rises. Unpredictability is a seductive aphrodisiac. Barbara Freethy uses it in a way that will chill, thrill and appeal. Avery and Wyatt will leave you breathless. I loved Wyatt's story. He is still undercover but finally realizing that maybe he has been undercover too long & needs to make some changes. He is now undercover in a space & science company when an employee is murdered and another employee is now in danger. Wyatt is determined to protect Avery but he doesn't know who to trust. Avery is nervous to trust Wyatt but he is the only choice she has. There are a lot of suspects, danger to numerous people including some of the suspects, friends & family of Avery's involved. I think this is a great series and looking forwarding to books 4 & 5. Desperate Play is a typical Barbara Freethy romantic suspense novel. From the opening scene, it grabs your attention & doesn't let go. The plot twists & turns with surprises at every turn. Every time I thought I knew who did it, another suspect came up. The Off the Grid series follows a group of FBI agents that bonded in training. Each book is self contained with appearances from some of the others. There is a secondary ongoing thread about someone in the FBI screwing with their careers but it is an underlying thread tying the stories together. This book follows Wyatt, an undercover agent & Avery, an astrophysicist as they race to discover who is behind acts of espionage & theft & her friend Noelle's murder. Who can they trust? Who is trying to kill Avery? sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

There is a good storyline here, with engaging and interesting characters, but ... it could be so much better if more were conveyed by description and action than by lengthy conversations which tend to bypass the emotional content. ( )
