( ) The ending felt like it took up half the book and they kept stopping mid near-death experience to have whole conversations and things, which felt like 'much'. But there were some particularly nice parts as well. I am very fond of this collection of characters, and even when something seems a little over-the-top, in the next scene there's something touching that makes up for it. ***dinsdag 26 maart 2019*** I enjoyed it but also had no idea what was happening half the time. Very magic heavy, and I had forgotten most of the workings. The characters felt a bit one dimensional but every one had their own 'voice'. Also I have no idea how pregnancies work but didn't that baby grew too fast? Or did I miss a jump in time? I so love this series! In this entry the Endicotts call in Whyborne's promise to assist them in the re-taking of their family home. So, Whyborne is off to Cornwall along with Griffin, Christine and Iskander. I liked that we got to see more of Heliabel (not sure I spelled that right) as she is a surprisingly kick-ass character. This series really delves into the meaning of family generally and especially in this volume. I love how protective Whyborne is of Christine, much to her annoyance, although he can't quite keep her as safe as he'd like. Overall a very good entry leading up to the climax of the series. As a side note, on this re-reading I caught a little bit of what I consider to be an Easter Egg for her newer Widdershin's based series wherein at the port there were two sea captains arguing about whose turn it was to visit their (yes, their) wife. It was just such a tiny thing...but it was interesting to see. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: Whyborne's Endicott relatives have returned to collect on the promise he made to help them take back their ancestral manor from an evil cult. In exchange, they'll give him the key to deciphering the Wisborg Codex, which Whyborne needs to learn how to stop the masters. To that end, Whyborne, his husband Griffin, and their friends Iskander and Christine travel to a small island off the coast of Cornwall. But when they arrive at Balefire Manor, Whyborne must not only face the evil within the ancient mansion, but the painful truth about his own destiny. .No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
