Stone Rules is Book 1 in the Stone Brothers series. This series follows after the Mitchell Sisters series and tells the story of the Charlie (unofficial Mitchell Sister) falling in love with Ethan Stone. Like Piper Mitchell, Charlie had a horrifically abusive childhood. But instead of hating and avoiding men the way Piper did, Charlie slept with as many as she could. She meets Ethan when she hires him to track down a list of men who her mother allowed to molest her. There's an immediate attraction and both immediately act on it. However, both have too much baggage to consider having a relationship. Plus, Charlie is his client, so Ethan tries to use that as a buffer. It doesn't work. They can't stay away from each other and Charlie soon realizes she's in love with Ethan. Ethan realizes he has feelings for Charlie as well, but can't get over his past to be with her. But he can't avoid her long. Unfortunately in the mean time, things happen that have a huge impact on their relationship and could alter their happily ever after.

Stone Rules wasn't as compelling as any of the books in the first series. But I was invested in Charlie and wanted to see her overcome her past. Thanks to Ethan, she does, but it was a hard road for the two. ( )
