Like others I was a little hesitant at the very beginning, choosing all the attributes, but by the end I was completely sold on the relationship and holding my breath for how it would all work out. Mantra: Have faith in the HEA. Have faith in the HEA. Have faith in the HEA. Will most definitely re-read. Might even hit the favorites shelf! I was also very interested in the android... functionality. Like, my one niggling complaint is that Shaun didn't ejaculate. If he can pulse and do flaccid to erect, he should be able to ejaculate as there is already a prosthetic which replicates that (The Joystick). On the other hand, functionality like pulsing would be exceptionally difficult. Two universities in my area are actively working on a bionic for this, and while it's becoming feasible, it's a significant challenge (The Bionic). I'm not saying it isn't believable that in the next 50 years, they'll manage all that... to the contrary I hope they do. Just that I think simulated cum would be included. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
In 2068, androids are an integrated part of human life. Big Brother no longer just watches from the shadows. It's in every household. Lloyd Salter has OCD issues with noise and mess, and he's uncomfortable with human interaction. When his ex claimed the only thing perfect enough to live up to his standards was an android, Lloyd dismissed it. But two years later, after much self-assessment, he thinks he may have been right. SATinc is the largest manufacturer of androids in Australia, including the Fully Compatible Units known as an A-Class 10. Their latest design is the Synthetic Human Android UNit, otherwise known as SHAUN. Shaun is compatible to Lloyd's every need; the perfect fit on an intellectual and physical basis. But Lloyd soon realises Shaun's not like other A-Class androids. He learns. He adapts. Sure that SATinc is aware Shaun functions outside of his programmed parameters, Lloyd must find a way to keep Shaun safe. No one can know how special Shaun is. No one can know he's evolved. Contains mature themes. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

Now, I've said often enough that I don't always like Joel Leslie's narration - too idiosyncratic - but he's so apt for a quirky novel like this.
I'm only 2 hours in, and I'm not sure if I'll persist to the end of this 8 1/4 hour novel.
I take my hat off to NR Walker. She must have a million stories in her head - each one I read takes me into a new world - not 'world' in the sci-fi sense usually. This is set in 2068.
Lloyd Salter is an OCD nerd who has had android Shaun made to his specifications. It's a daydream how perfect Shaun is for Lloyd, but that doesn't mean there isn't a delightful getting-to-know you period. ( )
