A rising star at a preeminent political lobbying firm, Dag Calhoun represents the world's most powerful technology and energy executives. But when a close brush with death reveals that the influence he wields makes him a target, impossible cracks appear in his perfect, richly appointed life. Like everyone else, Dag relies on his digital feed for everything--a feed that is as personal as it is pervasive, and may not be as private as it seems. As he struggles to make sense of the dark forces closing in on him, he discovers that activists are hijacking the feed to manipulate markets and governments. Going public would destroy everything he's worked so hard to build, but it's not just Dag's life on the line--a shadow war is coming, one that will secure humanity's future or doom the planet to climate catastrophe. Ultimately, Dag must decide the price he's willing to pay to change the world.… (más)

A very slow read. There are not enough relevant events or facts in the story to justify the lengthy descriptions given by the author. It could have been told in half the time without losing the essence.

The story is interesting and well structured, but it feels very slow sometimes. You have very long and detailed descriptions in some parts, while others are just left to the reader imagination, without a clear guide of what happens in there (I know that some freedom is often welcome, but not in this case).

All things said, I am still tempted to continue with the next book in the series just based on the story to come. ( )

This isn’t my usual type of read, but I really enjoyed this book. The pace clipped along nicely, and for a story with such a dark theme running through it, the ending sure left me feeling uplifted :).

Lots of great characters here, too, I thought, particularly Dag. I appreciated that he wasn’t super smart or super tough or super suave. He’d had a harsh upbringing but it wasn’t portrayed as over-the-top. In fact, nothing about him seemed exaggerated or unbelievable; for a hero, he seemed like someone you might actually meet in everyday life. I felt his thought processes rang true.

Diana, though…she was my fave. Love her! I was happy to learn the next book in this series is going to be about her :) ( )
