A woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie's only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn't know who she is, where she's from or why she is so terrified ... Is she a witness, a suspect, or the next victim? The Girl with No Name (Detective Josie Quinn, 2) by Lisa Regan

A fast paced (procedural) thriller with a strong female lead and likable characters. Plenty of twists, turns and secrets had me hooked from the first page. Josie Quinn is quickly becoming one of my favorite Deceives, flawed but very likable. I look forward to more in this exciting series. I highly Recommend The Girl With No Name by Lisa Regan to those who enjoy a good crime/thriller. ( )

Detective Josie Quinn has her hands full with another crazy, twisted case on her hands. Still reeling from her last case she is finally getting the hang of being chief while trying to plan a wedding and get used to no longer being in the field, but behind a desk. She is not sure if she likes this new gig, but as of now everyone still respects her and sees her as a hero for unveiling the truth of corrupt townspeople.

Josie gets called to a house on the outskirts of town. Not realizing at first who the owner is, the case quickly gets put into overdrive. There is a missing newborn infant, the mother is beat badly enough that there’s concern of her pulling through and Josie doesn’t even know where to start for looking for a newborn. She wants to put out an APB, but she doesn’t even know if the baby is a boy or girl.

Who would take a newborn and why? As Josie tries to question friends and family she is finding that this person was very private when it came to the pregnancy and yet who might be the other parent might be what caused this but no one knows who that could be. As she is running around trying to find a stolen newborn, she gets called to another location and this one she is familiar with, but there is a women fleeing the house. Who is she, and what is going on now?

Not thrilled at having another case, Josie quickly realizes that the two might be tied together, but the woman is claiming amnesia. Josie’s co-workers realize that she might be a little too close to this case and leads turn up, and quest her stability in continuing to work and solve what is happening. But Josie won’t let anything stop her, and this is what she has missed- working the field. ( )

I am usually a fan of Lisa Regan's books and enjoy this genre. This story had its moments of suspense for me but got a bit too convoluted in the details overall for me to follow. Maybe a case of where less could be more? ( )

The Girl With No Name picks up about two years after the events in the previous Josie Quinn book. Josie has revamped Denton PD, and is trying to rebuild her life when she's called on to a crime scene. A new mother has been subjected to violent physical assault, and her newborn is nowhere to be found.

When a second abduction/disappearance takes place, pressure mounts on Josie and her team. They take into custody a woman found at the second scene, who claims she has no recollection whatsoever of how she came to be there.

When the abductions and their reluctant witness seem to be connected to other crimes in the recent past, Josie and her team realize that Denton is the epicenter of another deeper, larger, darker crime again.

Mysteries are layered, in this sequel to Vanishing Girls . There are gripping twists every two pages, and there's barely an element of predictability. There's parts of this series that I do not really like- mostly how the characters seem to be those that can fit into any mystery/thriller/crime procedural, and the relationships between the characters also seem so. But the strength of the series lies in how wonderfully Lisa Regan creates elements of surprise and suspense and mystery. ( )

Lisa Regan was sitting at a loom WEAVING away all the twists and turns in this CRIME novel. Second in the Josie Quinn series and although it would probably flesh a few characters a bit more the story reads fine as a stand alone too. Jose is the Chief of Police with a "I AM GOING TO GET YOU" attitude along with a staff of loyal and gutsy detectives. Deaths are mounting up and author presents a number of potential killers. Steady paced drama but the last ten percent of the book was amazing. I have another one of Regan's books in my library and can't wait to get started on it. "A copy of this book was provided by Bookouture via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." ( )
