Calvin Lynch and Troy Hoffman have been best mates since they were fourteen years old. They're both hard-working tradesmen, both love weekends away fishing, both gay, but have never been single at the same time. Until now. What is supposed to be a weekend away fishing with a group of mates, changes at the last minute when friends bail out in an attempt to give Cal and Troy some alone time. With more than just hooks on the line, can these two see what's been right in front of them the whole time? The Perfect Catch is a short story about falling for your best friend hook, line, and sinker. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

Not only did I get this friends-to-lovers novelette free in one of the romance giveaways February generates, but there is nice angst, and good tension. I also very much approve of the type of "separation" herein, where the MC reasons himself out of it and talks with his lover. I like it when authors let their adult characters act like adults.
I give it an average rating because I compared it to better works in this trope. Plus, this poor story cries out for a more attentive line-editor. My favorite was the Magic Disappearing Underwear, but there were several. Also, do people really get on a bed still wearing their underwear when they've seen each other naked many times, and they're fully ready for penetrative sex? I find that hard to believe.
As is her habit, the author once again tells me what a character's feeling, while showing me. I knew she'd do it, but I'm disappointed to be disappointed.
Regardless, this was a pleasant free read, and I wouldn't have resented spending the kindle 99 cents on it, either. It was sweet. ( )
