Very entertaining Cinderella/My Fair Lady type story where the hero, Regan Cole, makes over the heroine, Kenna Dean, to attract his brother Denny, then ends up falling for Kenna himself. Regan was overbearing, rude to Kenna, denied his feelings for too long, and smoked all the time. Kenna was way too naive and innocent, and she forgave everything far too easily. But despite these things, this story held a certain charm to it that kept me liking it and enjoying it a lot. There's also a lot of fun, entertaining banter between the two main characters throughout. At the end of it all, this turned out to be a pretty cute and sweet story. ( ) I first read this book back in 1988 and gave it a high rating; this reread didn't satisfy me at all. Palmer is one of my guilty pleasure authors: I can't quite pinpoint any more why I'm compelled to buy her books (new, to boot); she's like rubber-necking an accident on the highway. You can't resist looking but you know there's such distress involved. One thing about Palmer is that she's consistent, she never veers from her initial plot lines, her original 1980s heroines. You know what to expect which can be a comforting thing, however so many authors have moved upwards and onwards to a sharper-edged, more contemporary feel to their stories but Palmer is just mud-stuck in the 1980s: spinning her literary wheels. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

All Denny Cole ever noticed was her typing speed. But Kenna Dean promised herself that one day the Atlanta lawyer would see beyond his efficient secretary to the woman beneath. It seemed an uphill battle until Denny's partner and stepbrother Regan decided to make her over to catch Denny's eye. But the "solution" backfired when Regan became the problem. She'd distrusted him on sight until he swept her into his practiced arms to an ecstasy she'd never known before. He was grooming her for another man, but suddenly Kenna wanted to capture only Regan's heart. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
