She manages to convince her boss to let her work on one cold case of her choice as her career draws to a close. Hulda selects a case where an immigrant woman was to have committed suicide, a finding that she has never been at ease with. Hulda's investigation ruffles feathers both with her colleagues and with some pillars of the Rejkyavik community. The upshot is that things are made harder for her the closer that she gets to the truth. This was an OK book but, frankly, I really hated the ending. There was, I think, one chapter too many and the opportunity to leave the viewer with a really appropriate ending was passed over in order to plug the next book in the series. I might read that, but I'm not hugely tempted. I don't think it was the writing of the book, as much as the translation of this one. It seemed very stilted and choppy.
I don't think I will be continuing with the Hidden Iceland series. (
