It can be hard to find good early readers. Some of them have stories that are way too complicated for a little kid to understand. Some of them have stories that are mostly just secondary to the illustrations, with the stories being mostly fluff. And some of them just have really creepy illustrations.

This book strikes a balance between having interesting illustrations, a story that is interesting without being complicated, and being about a topic that my nephews have a big interest in. The younger one who can't yet read will love the pictures and the older one will be able to read it to him. ( )

Gramps decides to take the cubs to a construction site in this classic story in the series. Brother, Sister, and Honey go on a tour with Big Jake as their guide. This is great for younger readers learning to sound out words and learn about various construction vehicles and identifying each one. I would recommend this for any collection owning others in the Berenstain Bear’s series. ( )
