( ![]() In Death 11 The brutal murder of a cop in an uptown strip joint puts NYPSD homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas in the middle of a very personal case. The reappearance of a shady character from Roarke’s past complicates matters . . . and the mysterious candy thief strikes again. Eleventh in the “In Death” series . . . and it’s becoming more and more difficult to keep from repeating comments from reviews of previous books in the series. As always, there’s a strong sense of place that anchors the telling of the tale, the mystery is first-rate, the characters continue to grow and develop. This time around, Eve and Roarke have a huge fight, again showing the author’s ability to present the characters as real, believable people and the interactions between the characters continue to be one of the highlights of the series. Although each book works as a stand-alone for readers new to the series, there is something special about seeing the slowly-revealed layers and nuances of each of the characters as they interact with each other. Tension and suspense keep the pages turning in this unputdownable book and, although there are moments when Roarke seems a bit too stubborn and callous, the confrontation scene with Roarke and Max Ricker is pure gold . . . . Highly recommended. A murder on a train leads to another complex mystery. Excellent plot. I love this series. I could not pick a favorite book out of it if I tried. This one pits Eve against a killer of dirty cops in New York in the year 2059. The first cop killed is moonlighting at a club called Purgatory which happens to be owned by Eve's husband Roarke. The normal cast of characters shows up in this installment also - Peabody, McNab, Feeney, Dr. Mira, Sommerset, Mavis, et al... I've grown quite fond of the characters in this series and their interactions with each other, Eve and Peabody especially make me chuckle. Before you know it, two more cops are dead and Eve has her sights set on nailing a powerful mafia-type crime boss who she believes is behind the whole thing. This series has it all...crime, punishment, sex, bad guys, futuristic crime fighting and a little bit of comic relief thrown in for good measure. I give this book 5 stars out of 5. I give the whole series a 5/5. Highly recommended. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

In an uptown strip joint, a cop is found bludgeoned to death. The weapon's a baseball bat. The motive's a mystery. It's a case of serious overkill that pushes Eve Dallas straight into overdrive. Her investigation uncovers a private club that's more than a hot spot. Purgatory's a last chance for atonement where everyone is judged. Where your most intimate fate depends on your most intimate sins. And where one cop's hidden secrets are about to plunge innocent souls into vice-ridden damnation...
