This was truly what the doctor ordered... sorry, I know, bad pun. 4.5 stars actually.

But in all honesty it was a great story that I didn't want to put down. There was no angst, no heartbreaking, soulsearching 'is this okay'... as I said just what I needed. Instead it was a hot, sexy book about a relationship that started unapologetically as a purely sexual one, but grew into so much more. Add to this hot doctors and a bit of kink and I ask you: what more does anyone want?

The story being told from both MC's point of view in alternating chapters did take a little getting used to, and at times I did have to stop to think in whose head we were in for a moment. But it also made sure we knew how they both felt throughout the relationship so it wasn't an issue for me. ( )

It was an ok read. A sexy doctor falling for his hot student. But it evolved too much around the sex. There was no plausible falling in love, because their only activity was sex. I am not sure if that counts as insta-love - it was too instantaneous for me anyway.
And regarding the sex: Too many surgical gloves - it somehow detracts from the overall kinkyness, although it could be a kink on itself...it also had some other kinky techniques, including exotic piercings and some BDSM...

All in all, it was not really great, but nice (if you can say that about such a sex-heavy read...) ( )

There was nothing wrong with this book, I just found it all rather dull. Neither guy was particularly interesting, the hospital politics almost put me to sleep and the sex wasn't hot.

This is a relatively angst free book and if you are looking for a story like that or have a special interest in medicine this book may be just the thing for you. It was just okay for me. ( )

An interesting setting (the British public health system) and likable lead characters make this contemporary m/m romance work. I didn't like how the relationship progresses a little too quickly to the "I-love-you" stage, however. I prefer a slow build in my romances. There was also a sex scene at the very beginning of the book, in the prologue, between one of the heroes and a random dude he met in a bar (at first I thought that would turn out to be the love interest... but no) that seemed totally out of place, unromantic and unnecessary. The sex scenes between the two leads, on the other hand, are hot and tender, with hints of D/s. I liked it enough that I would read more by the author, though. ( )

Really enjoyed this one. Mathew Blake is the standard overwhelmed med student in London, living life out large, with his piercings and random sex to allevieate the tension. There is something about his supervisor, Andrew Maynard, which catches his eye.
The book is told in first person, alternating btween Andrew and Matthew. It had all sorts of details to ground it in reality, and a nice energy between the two men. I liked being with them and believed in their relationship. A keeper. ( )
