I have several students from the islands, and they were able to connect with the value of this book. I use my lunch and snack time to play read-aloud. This is one where you could hear a pin drop. Everyone needs to know they have a place where they are and some connections where they came from. Summary: tells the story that Lola uncovers about her first country, where she was born but forced to move with her family when she was a baby because of a dictatorship. Lola have no recollection of this because she was young, but because of a class assignment, she was able to uncover her family history. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

When she has to draw a picture of where she immigrated from, Lola asks her family, friends, and neighbors about their memories of her homeland. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

This would be a super cool book to read and talk about where everyone is from! Even if students are from the same town we are currently in, it would be so wonderful for students to be able to share their connection with the place they live. They could do a similar project as the student was assigned in the book. This is probably appropriate for 1st and 2nd grade students. ( )
