Note: I accessed digital review copies of this book through NetGalley and Edelweiss. This book is all about different marine animals. It is a counting book and goes from 1-11. There are animals such as a barracuda, stingray, parrotfish, and chocolate chip sea stars. Each page has the number it is on, a picture, and a description on what the animal is. I enjoyed this book because it teaches readers about a lot of interesting animals that are not that common to talk/learn about. I also like all the illustrations in this book. I would use this to teach counting or habitats. The text may be a little challenging for young students so I would read it to them depending on the grade. This book is disguised as a counting book, but it contains some very important information and facts. Readers will learn the importance of seagrass and about ten different marine animals that live in the ocean floor by the seagrass. It showed what the animals do swimming near or in the seagrass. Because this is a counting book it starts with one great barracuda, then two yellow stingrays and so on. The language is descriptive and the large, mixed media illustrations describe the animals living in seagrass meadows. The one drawback I saw was that the illustrations were often dark and so it was harder to see the animals, but it would be dark underwater, so it made them more realistic. The back of the book included extra information about each animal, a glossary and a map which could also lead to further investigation. This book could be read to young children or used to introduce the sea, specifically the seagrass meadows with older children. A good book for school libraries. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
