This is the second Al Macy book I have read. As usual, he does not disappoint! This book had me hooked from the first page again! All the familiar characters are back and better than ever with their own stories and new challenges they are facing. We are also introduced to some new characters that are intriguing and leaves you wanting to know more about their life. The plot revolves around the political world with a paranormal twist that is truly fantastic. I really enjoyed this book and am a big fan of the Eric Beckman novels. This is a must read! I received a copy of this book through LibraryThing giveaway. ( )Esta reseña ha sido escrita para Sorteo de miembros LibraryThing. Imagine a presidential candidate with the power to brainwash all the attendees at his rallies. He could make them love him and vigorously campaign for him. In their eyes, he could do no wrong. That is precisely what the book Democracy’s Thief is about. The book is a thriller that includes the main character, Eric Beckman Ph.D., going up against a professional killer in the candidate’s employ. The police department has been brainwashed so Beckman has nowhere to turn. He calls on friends for help but they are limited in what they can do. The candidate is bent on humanity’s destruction and it is up to Beckman to stop him. Fortunately, Beckman also has mental powers. He can read minds and, with his heart rate up, can influence individuals. The elevated heart rate proviso makes for some amusing twists in the story. Al Macy knows how to keep his reader entertained with thrilling, close call events and amusement. The book took me only two evenings to read. Part of the reason is that I kept reading just one more chapter before I turned off the lights for the evening until I had no choice in the matter if I was to be of any use the following day. Democracy's Thief is a thrilling and fun read. Esta reseña ha sido escrita para Sorteo de miembros LibraryThing. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this third book in the Eric Beckman series! He must interfere with a presidential election and save the future for everyone! Esta reseña ha sido escrita para Sorteo de miembros LibraryThing. As usual, this Erik Beckman was difficult to stop reading - good thing it is a quick read. Although I was absorbed by the story, I did not comfortably swallow the disempowered crowd aspects. Al Macy constructs his books carefully so I can usually go along with the tale he tells, but this time I was unwilling. The known characters from the series continue to entertain and grow. I received this a s a LibraryThing Member GiveAway. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Private Investigator Eric Beckman hates politics. He doesn't even watch the news-it's just sensationalized stories crafted to sell commercials. Why should he care? But that changes when a friend is shot in the head during a politically motivated break-in. Eric starts digging, and using his paranormal mind-reading skills, he soon discovers that Wilson Kingman, the presidential candidate behind the burglary, has some supernatural skills of his own. With one sweep of his mesmerizing gaze, he's able to secure the fanatical devotion of the thousands who attend his rallies--including the very people investigating him. Worse, Kingman's true motivations have nothing to do with leading the free world. With the clock ticking down toward election day, Beckman must overcome his aversion to politics and stop the wrong man from being elected. If he fails, millions will die. Democracy's Thief is a standalone book which may be enjoyed without reading any of the other books in the series. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
