Love the rhythm, the drawings, the message. Not too fond of the mix of British and American vocabulary (personal preference as I find it grating), nor of drawing a Holstein (dairy) cow when a beef steer would have made a lot more sense. Ah well. Cute ending, too. The illustrator, Tony Ross, also made the series including [b:Amber Brown Is Not a Crayon|5371|Amber Brown Is Not a Crayon|Paula Danziger|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1165519098s/5371.jpg|950484] books come alive. A little girl does not want to be like all the other girls she knows. She wants to be a cowgirl and live in the country. She does not want to be a girly girl who lives in the city.

This is a cute story about being different. They little girls wants to stand out and move out the city and become a cowgirl. I love that in the end, she follows her dream and her and her daddy move to the country. ( )

Its a good book about a girl want to be different and be like the normal idea of female. It also is a good example of making dreams come true. In the end the father also wanted to be a cowboy. ( )

The author and illustrator seem as though they sat side by side writing this book. The cover showing a big city with cacti clouds makes a perfect impression of what's to come. I love the message to young girls that is okay to dream of being whatever they want. The societal take on gender roles is totally squashed. This is a wonderful book. ( )

A little girl wants to leave her NYC flat and move to the wild west to be a cowgirl. She doesn't want to be a good school girl or a girly girl or even a girl that cooks and cleans, she wants to be a cowgirl and wants her father to come along and be a cowboy. This is a great book to read when teaching children about who they want to be when they grow up. ( )
