All of the pigs across the holler come, and dance lively jigs. There is a band and singers, and they kick up their heels for an exciting dance time! At the end of the night, they all leave, back to their homes. They eagerly await next years fun time! This book seemed to lack an actual story. It did a great job describing the dancers and the music. It has a bouncy rhythm and some great vocabulary. It is not one I'd purchase for my own library. This book could be utilized in a unit on farm animals. While the animals are acting with human-like characteristics, comparing and contrasting them with actual animals could be entertaining for kids. I also think it is just a silly book that children might enjoy while learning the letter p. I really like "Piggies in a Polka." For one, most children have never heard of a polka or would even think that it is a dance! This book entertains children with the history of the polka and instruments that were played around the same time. This would be a good book to teach to children in a music or cultural arts class. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
