The people of Whiteside grow cassava and grind it into food starch to sell, and so the whole village is white from top to bottom, including the villagers. Blackfell's people are different. They dig coal from a coal mine and their whole village is filled with coal, and so the people look black and dirty. The people from the two villages have nothing to do with each other and dislike the other's color. When the circus comes, the people of Whiteside only applaud for the women in white and the white horses, while the Blackfell villagers only cheer when the black panther performs. They are all afraid that if they intermarry, the next generation will be black and white like a zebra. Who will dissolve the antipathy between the two villages?
