In "The Heart's Calling" you will learn to like Pamela Charbonneau, who is sent away when her parents disapprove of the man she thought she was in love with. While to slowly tries to adjust to her new life in New Mexico she will forge a strange friendship with Jim Williams, the man who will kidnap her by mistake and then risk his life to save her. A different twist to this story, but very enjoyable.
In "Forever Yours" (my favorite I think), you will watch Daughtry Lucas flee her overprotective father, and answer an ad in the newspaper for a marriage by proxy. Can Daughtry and Nick, complete strangers, make their marriage work? I enjoyed the way these two interacted with each other. You can tell these two were meant to be.
In "Angel's Cause" Angeline Monroe is a young woman who can't resist a worthy cause, and also a young woman who has the attention of all the men in her town. But her lifelong friend, Gavin Lucas, seems to be avoiding her. Gavin finally makes his intentions clear, when he asks to marry 'Angel'. Angel then takes on the women's suffrage movement and gets swept away by those who aren't all they seem to be Gavin will be sent to rescue her and getting her to believe him and trust him will be quite the ordeal.
Finally, in "Come Away My Love", Joelle Dawson and John Monroe are pledged to be married. Then John has a terrible airplane crash with the possibility of never walking again. He wants Joelle to leave him alone, but she is one stubborn woman and won't take no for an answer. While helping him heal Joelle will be cruelly victimized. She then flees and John must heal so he can go after the woman who saved his life and suffered terribly because of it. A story of true love that can withstand the tests of time.
Reading and watching these many New Mexico families blend together over the generations was a joy. Glad I took the time to enjoy these New Mexico stories. ( )
