SHE CAN MAKE SENSE OF A COMPLEX CRIMINAL MIND.
Evelyn Talbot, a psychiatrist at a maximum-security prison in Alaska, studies some of the world's worst serial killers. But she's about to meet her most elusive patient at Hanover House yet: Dr. Lyman Bishop, AKA the Zombie Maker given his fondness for performing ice-pick lobotomies on his victims. A brilliant cancer researcher, Bishop is either the most cunning psychopath Evelyn has ever encounteredâ??or he is wrongly convicted.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A CRIMINAL CAN SEE INTO HER OWN?
When a new ice-pick fatality occurs, it seems Bishop really was wrongly convicted. Except...Evelyn has a personal connection to the victim and that suggests the killer may be someone from her own past: Jasper Moore, her high school boyfriend who tortured her and left her for dead when she was only sixteen. Jasper also murdered three of her friendsâ??and was never caught. Is he trying to send a message with this copycat crime? The only thing Evelyn knows for sure is that if Jasper is on her trail, she might not be able to escape again . .

I liked it however 1) I figured out the killer almost right away & 2) things that happen at the end require a HUGE suspension of disbelief. Let me say it again-a HUGE suspension of disbelief. ( )

Please see all of my reviews on my blog at https://www.robinlovesreading.com.

Evelyn has gotten some positive results with setting up Hanover House, a maximum-security prison in Alaska. It has been an uphill battle. The world’s worst psychopaths are now housed there. One of the most difficult patient’s, Dr. Lymon Bishop has been quite slippery, despite having been arrested for several brutal murders. Bishop’s method of madness is exceptionally heinous. While studying Bishop, Evelyn has to deal with the fact that Bishop might indeed be an innocent man.

Meanwhile, Evelyn’s past kidnapping and torture never remains far from her mind, especially as she is still being hounded by the man responsible, Jasper Moore. There are horrific things happening now that make it seem to Evelyn, and Amarok, the sheriff and Evelyn’s lover, that proves that Jasper may still be a real danger to Evelyn, as well as to others.

This is a fast-paced and twisty psychological thriller. The danger is palpable and kept me on my toes. Despite the dark nature of this series, and some rather despicable characters, these books are very compelling. It is multi-layered, with the existing romance, brutal crimes and the way that the book delves into the mindset of the world’s most brutal minds, especially Jasper’s.

Who doesn’t want resolution when reading books like this? I know I certainly do! I have the audiobook version and could not turn it off until I reached the very end. However, I have to hurry up and read the next book in the series, Face Off, as soon as possible for some unanswered questions. Thankfully, I have that book on my Kindle.

Hello Again is the 2nd book in the Evelyn Talbot Chronicles . I read the first book, as well as the prequel, and definitely think that this series should be read in order. ( )

I had a really good time with this book. I actually liked this book a lot more than the previous installment and am really glad that I decided to continue with the series. I thought that this book was very exciting and found myself wanting to keep reading for hours at a time just to find out how things would work out.

This is the second full length book in the Evelyn Talbot series and I do recommend reading this series in order since some parts of the story build on events from previous books. Evelyn is continuing her work at Hanover House and has a new psychopath to work with, Lyman Bishop or the Zombie Maker. Lyman is incredibly intelligent and somewhat challenging. Of course, there are other things going on around Evelyn as well so things are always interesting.

I really liked the complexity of the mystery in this book. I wasn't quite sure what I should think about certain events until something else that was connected occurred and everything fell into place. The way things were laid out really kept my interest level high. I thought that the fact that there were several interconnected threads also kept things rather exciting and there were quite a few surprises worked into the story. The relationship between Evelyn and Amarok does have a few developments but I thought that the story was much more balanced with the romantic aspect adding to the story and character development.

I thought that Therese Plummer did a great job with this book. I really enjoyed the pacing of her reading and she has a very pleasant voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. She was able to handle a fairly large cast of characters very well with distinct voices for each of the key players. I thought the she added a lot of emotion to the story and made some of the intense scenes even more exciting.

I would recommend this book to others. The series is really exciting and filled with wonderful characters. I can't wait to read more of this series so I can find out what is next for Evelyn Talbot.

I received a digital review copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley and purchased a copy of the book from Audible. ( )

It's a better book than I'm giving it credit for; I'm just very tired of serial killers. ( )

Just going to write down my feelings right now concerning this book.
WOW, wow and, umm, WOW! What a cliffhanger!! (Written right after reading the book)

This is the second book in this series and as soon as I saw it offered, I requested it.

A psychiatrist, Evelyn Talbot, that analyzes serial killers has built a prison in the wilderness of Alaska. So not only in the middle of nowhere, you also have the winters to deal with.

Kidnapped, tortured and almost killed by her high school/college boyfriend, Jasper Moore, she is determined to find out what makes serial killers tick. In this book, the ex-boyfriend is still on the loose years later. Her attempts to find him have not been very successful. Unfortunately, Jasper is still trying to finish what he started years ago and is hellbent that it will happen.

We also have the elusive serial killer, Lyman Bishop, who is incarcerated in Evelyn's prison who she is studying. Another ice pick murder (something Lyman is famous for - trying to lobotomize women so that they will be his slave) done while Lyman is in prison, sets him free. Evelyn tries everything she can to keep it from happening. She is torn on Lyman's innocence until she discovers and talks with his sister.

This was a great story and great series. Of course, with it being Brenda Novak, there is some love scenes included. Its funny when I started reading Brenda Novak, her Last Stand series, there were no romance scenes in her thrillers.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. ( )
