This book takes an in-depth look into the history of horror and supernatural novels that populated the mass paperback book sales during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Not only does he write about the more popular books from that era, but obscure titles that have long been out-of-print and mostly forgotten. He describes the unique plots of many of the novels, gives background on the publishers, authors and speaks to the unique artwork the adorned their covers. Included are many of the cover art images that had help push the sales of the novels. This is a fantastic look into the history of a genre of books that rose in popularity for a time. It includes a selected creator and publisher biographies as well an index. ( ) A non-fiction book looking back at the world of pulpy horror novels from the seventies and eighties. You know it wasn’t just Stephen King back then. Horror movies weren’t the only ones having a renaissance–books preyed on our fears too. And they could be a lot nastier since they were only text. Capitalizing on the Satanic Panic, psycho children, monster animals, haunted houses, and everything in-between. This book describes all the best. Personally, I came for the covers–those great covers that enticed everyone, more intriguing than movie posters, promising horrors within. It’s a fascinating look and an easy read. (I seem to be averaging a Grady Hendrix book every two months). sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
