It starts out interesting, but it takes so long to list various colors it deadens the rest of the story. The artwork is great, and the authors note at the end was way more informative than the pages of the book. I like this book, but it could’ve been done better. ( ) This book would be great for intermediate readers. This story is about Mary Blaire who has a deep love for colors and creative artwork; it tells the history of her journey as she goes to work for Walt Disney. This book is beautifully illustrated and would be great for teaching about strong female role models in artistic careers. As a child, Mary Blair noticed colors everywhere. One of the first women to be hired by Walt Disney Studios, she worked with men who mainly saw things in black and white and disliked her bright style. After leaving Disney, she was hired back for her “vivid” and “wild” imagination to create It’s a Small World. Includes Author’s Note sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

From her imaginative childhood to her career as an illustrator, designer, and animator for Walt Disney Studios, Mary wouldn't play by the rules. At a time when studios wanted to hire men and think in black and white, Mary painted twinkling emerald skies, peach giraffes with tangerine spots, and magenta horses that could fly.
