I don’t think anyone can write whimsical-quirky-funny-heartbreaking fantasy the way T.Kingfisher/Ursula Vernon does. ( )

Just love her stories! I love the twists and grit and pop in your face feel

I love Ursula Vernon's work -- I read most of these stories one at a time on her blog, but seeing them again just leaves me in a happy place. I love that they are fierce and weird and beautiful. I love that they are a grumpy sort of kind. It's the world as I want it to be. ( )

This is a masterful collection of short stories by T. Kingfisher / Ursula Vernon. Mostly these all fall into the fantasy category, though there are a couple that walk that dark fantasy line between fantasy and horror. Vernon even has a few poems in here which were a fun change from the more folk tale feel of many of the stories. Some of the stories are available to read for free on Vernon's website if you want to test out the style of her writing, though I greatly appreciated the author's notes at the beginning of many of these stories (and I think the author's notes were added specifically for the collection). This one is well worth picking up if you enjoy Vernon's style, and/or are a fan of rich fantastical short stories. ( )

These stories were a treat! I've read one other novel by the author and did not care for it that much, but these stories were excellent. They were dark, subversive, and thoroughly showcased what the best of fantasy could be. ( )
