U Parizu se nalazi jedan atelje, skriven u dnu ulice obrasle zelenilom, previše savršen da među svojim zidovima ne krije poneku tajnu. Madlin ga je iznajmila da bi uživala u samoći i pronašla malo mira nakon ljubavne krize i niza nerešenih slučajeva. Usled nesporazuma, ovoj mladoj londonskoj policajki pridružuje se Gaspar, pisac i mizantrop, koji je doputovao u Pariz da bi pisao u tišini. Tako su sada ove dve usamljene i nemirne duše prinuđene da nekoliko dana žive pod istim krovom.
Atelje je pripadao slavnom slikaru Šonu Lorencu i još odiše njegovom strašću prema bojama i igri svetlosti. Skrhan zbog gubitka sina, Lorenc je umro ostavivši za sobom tri slike, koje se vode kao nestale. Fascinirani njegovom genijalnošću i zaintrigirani njegovom tužnom sudbinom, Madlin i Gaspar odlučuju da udruže snage kako bi pronašli izgubljene slike i pronikli u Lorencove tajne.
