I liked the story a lot and the text was fun. The illustrations were a bit too busy for me, but I think my kids will enjoy them a lot. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. ( ) Jack has to sell his cow. He does for five beans. He is not happy about it but the narrator is pushing him into the story which he also is not happy about. He goes along but back talks the narrator. Jack anticipates the story and the narrator gets mad at him. When the giant appears, the story goes off track big time and so does the narrator. Will he gain control of the story again? Will Jack and the giant named Fred take over? I love this series. I laugh as the fairy tale character and the narrator go back and forth. I certainly enjoy the banter of them. I also liked the giant. We get a better glimpse into his life than any other telling. I look forward to the third book. This book is a twist on the traditional version of Jack and the Beanstalk that most people are familiar with, which is what makes it such a blast. While the reader is being told the story by the narrator, Jack comments with his thoughts on what is happening. Some of the classic elements are included, but the reader can expect a different ending. Jack’s comments made me laugh, and they put a hilarious spin on the story. Edwardian Taylor's bright illustrations really pop off the page. All of the colors and details give the reader a lot to look at, this was especially interesting when we read the book a second time looking for some clues we had heard about. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Jack is not fond of the bossy narrator of his fairy tale! When Jack is told to trade his beloved cow Bessie for some magic beans, throw the beans out the window, climb the ENORMOUS beanstalk that sprouts overnight, and steal from a GIANT, he decides this fairy tale is getting out of control. In fact, he doesn't want to follow the story line at all. Who says Jack needs to enter a life of daring, thievery, and giant trickery? He takes his story into his own hands--and you'll never guess what happens next! No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
