Fiction. Literature. Romance. Suspense. HTML:From the bestselling author of Devil??s Honor and Devil??s Mark, this seductive novel of the Louisiana bayou kicks into high gear as a dangerously sexy biker takes a no-nonsense teacher on the ultimate thrill ride.
Lara Ashburn hates bikers. She watched a motorcycle club destroy her hometown, bringing her brother down with it. That??s a life she put far in her rearview. So the last person she wants to see walking into her classroom is the top enforcer of the Devil??s Keepers. Big, mean, and gorgeous, all tattoos and leather, Chaser is everything Lara should avoid. Yet the insane chemistry sparking between them tempts her to break all the rules.
Ryan ??Chaser? Frey has his hands full with a teen daughter in need of tough love, and he doesn??t have time for prissy teachers who want to tell him how to raise his kid. But Chaser never could resist a chick who gives as good as she gets. Lara is sexy as hell, and she??s not afraid of him. Plus, her links to a California club could provide the Devils with leverage against their enemies. But that would mean mixing business with pleasure??and risking the one woman Chaser can??t afford to lose.

As MC themed books go this one is a whole lotta romantic in comparison. Chaser as the club's Enforcer muscles his way in and out of most situations without tolerating much resistance. Lara Ashburn though is willing to get right up in his face and call him out, without any fear about disrespecting him or his club. Luckily she intrigues him enough that he finds himself losing control over his mind and body whenever he is around her.

As for Lara, Chaser represents everything that she has left behind her. She knows exactly what he is all about and how he operates. But her only concern is saving his daughter from a fate she is destined for if she continues on the destructive path she is on. But getting involved with Chaser is an excellent example of a very bad idea. But she just can't help herself. Soon she finds her life intricately entwined with Chaser and Kaylee's and funnily enough, she doesn't seem to want to free herself from it.

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. T his story was not for me, I get that others loved it, but I didn't, and I do love some biker stories, now one of the things dad I did appreciate was that there wasn't cheating. Ok So we have Lara, a teacher, who hated bikers, due to her history with them, she grew up surrounded by them. She meets Chaser, who is one of her students father, and they go head to head. Chaser does not want to deal with an up tight teacher, boy was he wrong. So 15 minutes in, and they are having sex- way to hold out Lara, what happened to your views that bikers woman were either "old lady" or whores" And then Chaser, I get he is supposed to love his daughter, but then he constantly leaves her to his nut case sister, to go have sex, or club business, what is up with that. Any who.. that will be all ( )

Motorcycle Tough guys find romance and their softer sides thanks to Megan Crane and her prose. Devil's Own is the third in the Devil's Keepers Series but could be enjoyed as a stand alone. Takes a brave soul to demand Ryan Chaser Frey the Enforcer of the Devil's Keepers to report to the teachers' office. Lara Ashburn has concerns about Chaser's daughter Kaylee and wants to share her observations. Chaser is charmed by Lara's in his face personality but sees right to the heart of her secrets. Danger still exists in the club and the loyalty question of their president Digger. " A copy was provided by Random House via NetGally with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and my comments here are my honest opinion. ( )

Devil’s Own by Megan Crane
The Devil’s Keepers #3

I stayed up late reading this book because the story wouldn’t let me stop to sleep. I had to find out what happened so I stayed up and found out.

This morning, while walking my three miles for the day, I thought about the book and decided that this is a book about:
* finding oneself (at least for Lara).
* family. Sometimes family is based on blood relationships and sometimes it is based on something even deeper than being related.
* determining what each individual deems right or wrong – and the decisions made were not always in keeping with the laws of the land
* conflict: internal, parent-teacher, parent-child, sibling-sibling, within the MC and between two MC’s … and also romantic.
* drugs and the impact they can have on a life.
* decisions and their consequences.
* justice – as perceived and enforced.
* love: all kinds of love.

I felt that Lara and Ryan were characters I could relate to in that they were honest and in keeping with the construct of the story. Lara had a lot to come to terms with in accepting things about her past, her brother, her and what she really wanted for the future. I really liked Lara. At the same time, Chaser had some growing to do, too. I don’t think that the MC lifestyle would work for me but I do like a good MC romance and this is very good.

I would recommend reading the first books in the series before reading this one and will also say that there is a bit of a set-up for the next book that for some may feel like a bit of a cliff-hanger that is fine with me since I have read the previous books and plan to continue with the series. I am not sure how many books are left in the series but am looking forward to reading each and every one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House – Loveswept for the ARC. This is my honest review.

4.5 Stars ( )

The last time Ryan “Chaser” Frey had been inside a high school was way back in the hectic blur of his mostly drunken senior year in Georgia, sometime before his last and final suspension, which his aggrieved principal had agreed to call an early graduation as long as he never, ever came back.
