Blame by Jeff Abbott is a uniquely plotted psychological thriller. It’s filled with suspense, a neighborhood full of people keeping secrets, and a lot of suspicion. The deeper I got into this book, the less characters I trusted. Everyone was a suspect!

We meet Jane Norton two years after her car accident that left her neighborhood best friend, David, tragically dead. Jane has amnesia that wiped her memory for the three years prior to the accident. She has to relearn so many things about herself and the people surrounding her. She gets reacquainted with her newer friends and has to be re-told that her father died.

Initially, people are sympathetic to Jane’s struggles. Once what appears to be a suicide note written by Jane is revealed, almost everyone turns against her. She decides to take measures into her own hands to determine what happened the night of the accident. This move takes the story on an adventure. One that will reveal who Jane can trust and those she shouldn’t.

I purchased the audiobook of Blame from Audible. Good narration by the cast of Bailey Carr, Lauren Fortgang, Greg Tremblay, and Vanessa Johnson.

I have photos and additional information that I'm unable to include here. It can all be found on my blog, in the link below.

Oh, this book is good. Blame is the kind of book that I felt right from the start will turn out to be great. I've read a book by Jeff Abbott before (The First Order book 5 in the Sam Capra series) and I knew he can write, and I was eagerly awaiting the day I could start reading this book. I was however when I started to read the book a bit surprised about how young Jane was, only 17. I had after reading the blurb imagined her older.

Jane's memory loss is not just from the accident two years ago. She can't remember the last three years of her life, not her father's death neither the new friends she made in high school. So, all she can go after is what all the people, her mother and the friends she has left tell hers. Her life isn't easy, memory loss and almost everyone thinks she is responsible for the death of David in the car crash. That she meant to kill them both. But, was she really suicidal? It's time for Jane to find out what really happened two years ago, was it an accident, or was she trying to kill them both? Or was someone else involved in the crash?

I love the fact that pretty much everyone acted so mysterious and suspicious in this book. From Jane's mother to her friends. Jane can't be sure whom to trust and it doesn't help that so doesn't remember more than glimpses the last three years of her life. It's a thrilling book to read, fast-paced, and I had a hard time figuring out how it all would end. They all seemed to have secrets.

Blame is a great book. If you like psychological thrillers will you love this one!

I want to thank the publisher for providing me with a free copy for an honest review! ( )

Synopsis: Jane awakes from a coma to find that her oldest friend was killed in the same crash that put her in the hospital and stole her memory. She also learns that most people blame her for David's death and that there is a concentrated effort being made to destroy her life. Who is targeting her? Is it her mother, the boy's parents, her former best girl friend, or someone else? And why won't anyone talk to her about what really was learned from the accident and from her hospital records?
Review: This is a twisted tale and although I had narrowed the suspect list to three, I was not able to pinpoint the actual 'bad guy'. This was a good read. ( )

An interesting story about a girl suffering from amnesia as memories slowly return, revealing a twisted tale that goes unexpected places. Secrets, lies, betrayals, they're all here. Plot twist at end... ( )

Imagine, several years of your life just vanish as a result of an accident, but all you know is that the person you were with was killed and everyone blames you. This is situation Jeff Abbott tackles in Blame, an engaging thriller with an ending I didn't expect.

Jane Norton is hiding something, and although we vaguely know pretty early on what has happened to her, she is an amnesiac and not portrayed in the best light. Why was she in the car with David, the boy who died? Who wrote the note they found at the scene of the car crash, which appeared to be written in Jane's handwriting stating "I wish
we were dead together"?

The slow start of the story reflects her altered perception of things in a way which explores how she came to be in the state she is, piecing together what happened, in her own disorientated way. I felt sorry for her, yet slightly annoyed at her behaviour. Yes, she is flawed, but she is also scared and frustrated. Does she deserve the treatment some throw at her? Would you be able to forgive her if you knew the truth? As the story progressed I found I was beginning to revel in Jane's take no sh^t attitude and she grew on me even more.

I took a while to get into this, but glad I stuck it out. That's never a good expression to put into a review, but it is how I felt. Despite this, the plot did indeed gather speed and there were twists and turns galore, which raced to a final conclusion that made reading this book all worthwhile. ( )
