Pete is not your average cat; he is a cool cat who is learning how to boogie. Pete is trying to learn this new dance and runs into some friends along the way who tell him that he is doing it all wrong. As they try to show Pete, he messes up the dance each time and starts to get discouraged. Pete cannot do any of the dances correctly until he talks to Owl. Owl tells Pete that there is no right or wrong, you dance however you want to! Pete was so happy and started to do his cool cat boogie. Pete learned that you don’t always have to do it the way everyone else is doing it. His own dance moves were good enough. I think this is a funny book to read to children and that it teaches them that you don’t have to follow what everyone else is doing, and that you just need to be your own self and that’s good enough. This book is about a cat who is trying to find friends to dance with him. They all teach him different dances, but he can't seem to do it right, because he just has too much fun. This was a cute little book, but I'm not sure how I could incorporate this book. ( )

Pete the Cat is learning a new dance move, called the Cool Cat Boogie. Then Grumpy Toad told him he’s dancing all wrong. Pete wants to learn how to do the dance, while practicing he saw his friend Squirrel. He asked Squirrel to help, which lead to a few more friends trying to help him. None of them could help him, until the Wise Old Owl came along. The Owl told Pete, “Pete, it doesn’t matter how you move as long as you are being you!” Pete learns it always best to be yourself. I really enjoyed reading this book to my kids at work, because they learned that it is best to just be yourslef. I also liked that at the end of the book it shows you the moves to the Cool Cat Boogie. My kids at work love to do the Cool Cat Boogie now. ( )

Pete the Cat is learning a new way to dance . . . the Cool Cat Boogie . . . and whenever he hears a groovy beat, he’s one happy cat.

Then Grumpy Toad tells him he’s dancing all wrong, and Pete is determined to become a better dancer. Pete’s friends try to help, but Owl’s wise words help Pete to discover it’s always best to be himself.

This charming children’s picture book includes instructions for dancing the Cool Cat Boogie. Young and not-so-young readers alike are sure to be delighted with Pete’s newest adventure.

Highly recommended. ( )
