Fiction. Romance. HTML:

Nikki Burgess has survived a terrible marriage and an even worse divorce. And she's just about given up hope of ever finding love and happiness. But when her ex-husband suddenly dies, she gets custody of her kids again and a chance to start over and do it right.

Dixie McPherson, on the other hand, has had way too much love. She has eleven tennis bracelets, dozens of trinkets, piles of sexy lingerie and a tarnished reputation when all she ever wanted was true love, a partner and a family.

Carlisle Bartlett is loyal, generous, kindhearted and the funniest guy slinging drinks in the back of an airplane. But he has an ugly little secret. The only kind of love he's used to comes with bruises.

They are three people who could seriously use a break. A fresh start. A shot at success and a chance to shine. Maybe a little romance--the kind that sticks. And some adventure wouldn't hurt. So when they're presented with the challenge of joining a team starting a new airline in Las Vegas, they don't hesitate. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, these three friends are going in search of their own blue skies.

Blue Skies is set in the universe of commercial airlines, specifically start ups. Nikki, a pilot, divorced with 2 kids, has recently become a widow as well. In need of a change, she and two friends, move to Las Vegas. They are immediately involved in the machinations of the start up New Century Airlines, and it's personnel. Carr knows a lot about that industry and the story, romances and relationships are entertaining and well done. I think it's one of her best! ( )

Similar in feel to Summer in Sonoma and House on Olive Street. I was actually taken in by all the work to get the new airline up and running. Not to mention the quirks of the characters. ( )

This book is an homage to America West and its history. MC is a pilot . . . a captain even of wide body planes. It was ok. Not even really a romance but more chick lit. ( )

Relatively quick read. I liked the story and didn't hate any of the characters. I liked the sense of helping each other that was included in the book, especially Carlisle helping Nikki with the kids. I loved April helping Nikki make herself over. ( )

Blue Skies by Robyn Carr
Nikki had gotten custody of their children when her ex husband, Drake died.
She used to get gifts of aviation, like planes and things for it.
Now she's relocated her family to Las Vegas, chief pilot of a new airline and her friends are joining her.
Loved hearing the behind the scenes of the pilots and stewardesses and air marshals.
Bit confusing keeping everybody straight as there are many crew and friends.
Relationship troubles and joys with the parents and many others are in the book. ( )
