Le está siguiendo la pista a Los Cuatro Grandes, cuatro astutos y peligrosos criminales a los que nadie ha visto jamás y nunca han atrapado. El peligro reside en lo cuidadosos que son, pues todo aquel que los investiga acaba muerto. Poirot, el mayor detective de todos los tiempos (según propias palabras), no quiere pensar en nada más que no sea destruir la organización secreta de "Los Cuatro Grandes", compuesta de importantes personajes mundialmente reconocidos en sus campos de actuación. Sólo que para ello necesita más que nunca poner a funcionar sus "células grises". Suceden varios episodios relacionados a acciones de los cuatro, que se organizan con el propósito de dominar el mundo eliminando literalmente todos los obstáculos. Y como Poirot es uno de ellos, intentan eliminarlo también. En esta aventura Poirot cuenta con la compañÃa de su fiel amigo Hastings, que llega de Argentina para pasar tres meses y resuelve quedarse para ayudar a Poirot a investigar y actuar contra los terribles "Cuatro Grandes".
