Lily is a succubus, after centuries of dangerous wandering she has finally managed to settle down and set up business in her salon But when a client is killed by a vampire in her place of business, the life she’s sought to preserve start falling apart. The vengeance driven widow determined to drive her out of business would be bad enough- but the murdering vampire wasn’t just a random act. The vampire is a serial killer – and he’s targeting customers from his mortal life. Including Lily and her frinds. And everyone knows the police don’t investigate vampire kills We have a common Urban Fantasy everything-there world here which Yasmine Galenorn does so long. Honestly these are always my favourite kinds of worlds so long as the author has sufficient restraint not to throw all of it at us all the time, swamping us I think this book treads a narrow line. Lily is a succubus, we have the fae courts which she’s also related to. We have a magic cat, a witch best friend, a human friend, a chaos demon, several wereanimals and some vampires. It’s a lot But it works because they’re all tied into the plot in a relevant fashion. We have elements of world building like the politics, opinions and culture of the wereanimals, the vampires and their ongoing plot to gain more power and how different they are from the people they were before. The world building is huge but the focus manages not to get too distracted. The plot itself has a lot of action, tension and many many dramatic scenes pulling in many characters as the seral killer is made very very personal. A lot of the time it’s very hard to justify why none police characters are actually going to chase a serial killer around – but here the combination of politics tying their hands and the personal nature of the attacks really bring the story home to the characters rather than having random amateur hour. Lily is a succubus and, I admit, when I first read this I kind of cringed. There are some excellent succubus protagonists out there. And also a substantial amount of books where I have to skim past endless pages of humping to get near the actual plot. Thankfully, this book fell in the former category – Lily being a succubus – and a sex worker is not used as a gratuitous way to have lots of sex scenes. In fact her hunger is used both to create a burden she has to deal with and work around (especially in a society where wandering around in an evening is difficult and dangerous) as well as a tragic and difficult path. Being a succubus is no just about being super hot – far from it. Her portrayal as a sex worker is also interesting – she adamantly rejects any kind of shaming, embraces and even celebrates her profession even as she is judged on several different angels and even persecuted by people judging her at least in part because of her profession both showing how sex workers are shamed without accepting that shaming as legitimate even as she is forced to change professions I like Lily’s relationships with her friends – she has clear powerful friendships with Nate and Dani, as well as a complex past with Jolene showing that friendships are not all shiny. I also really liked that Nate and Dani had issues happening in their own lives: Nate with his job and Dani with her husband. That’s one of my ultimate tests for real friendships in fiction – do they have their own lives, their own storylines I don’t think they were a huge part of the story yet but the foundation of the relationship is extremely clear Lily and Archer‘s relationship. I’m sort of torn on this. On the one hand I think they lept in a bit quickly and it was all kind of used as a way to push things forward, set the hooks for the next book, justify keeping Archer around Read More New series for Galenorn paranormal in nature with a Fae succubus Lilly who feeds through her sex salon. Characters were somewhat interesting but just not developed yet which will change as the world proceeds in books that follow. Plot begins with a vampire murderer who escapes on a mission to skin his art off his previous clients' dead bodies. Lilly, her friends Dani and Nate have all been inked by the Souljacker when he was human. Demons, Fae, Weres, Vampires and Queen Wynter all make up this prose. No cliffhanger but many questions unanswered. Diversion Books via Netgalley supplied a copy of this book to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion. I would like to thank Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Lily is a succubus who runs her own business in which she services weres and fae to calm her hunger and satisfy the lust of the supernaturals. So yes, a very specialized whore basically. But it's a living and keeps her from preying on innocents. Because her hunger can kill a human. But when one of her favorite clients is killed in her business, she joins forces with a crew of friends to save her reputation and all of their lives. This was a really good story. The world is not too complicated. I liked the way the Fae were brought into the story too. I liked Lily and her friends. I also liked the location, a new Seattle that is ruled by Wynter and therefore much colder than before. The sex scenes were a bit longer than I usually like, but hey, she's a succubus. The fact that Lily needs sex for strength is at least a good excuse to stop and have sex, even when the world seems to be falling apart. I liked the writing style in this book too. It is first person which I usually like in Urban Fantasy. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I am a fan and have been of this author's for a long time. When I saw that the author had this new series about a succubus, I got very excited. This book is very dark. I would classify this book as urban fantasy. It had sexual tension, sex, hot characters, murder, intrigue, and a strong female heroine. Ms. Galenorn has another winner on her hands with this book. This book is dark and edgy in all the right ways! Not only is Lily a succubus and Archer, a chaos demon but one of Lily's friend's, Dani, is a witch. Lily's other friend, Nate is human but don't count him out. He can stand along side of everyone. One and Lily's client (dead) was a weretiger. Also, there is faes and the Souljacker is a vampire. So, there is a little bit of everything for everyone. My only issue is that there was not a lot of interaction with the Souljacker until about the last third of the book. Learning about his story was interesting. He may be the bad guy but I do have a place for him. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

When a client of Lily Bound, an elite sex salon in the Blood Night District of Seattle, is found murdered, the owner knows something evil is happening. Then comes the news that the Souljacker, a tattoo-artist-turned-vampire, has escaped from an institution for criminally deranged Supernaturals. It is also alleged that he is hunting and killing everyone he has ever inked. Lily O'Connell, a succubus and owner of Lily Bound has one of the Souljacker's tattoos on her thigh and nowhere else to turn. When she hires Archer Desmond, a chaos demon and PI, to help track down the vampire, she didn't plan to fall in love with him. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

This is the start of a new series and the start of a new chapter in Lily’s life. She has friends and in this book picks up a new job for her Queen and a steady love interest as well.
A fun light read and I’ll be looking for more of these.
