The Power of Peppermint is the story of Jamison Pritchett, a photographer, and Noah Hawkins a Christmas Elf. This is told in third person from both characters povs.

2.5 Stars

This book is a very fast read. There isn’t any angst to it even though Noah deliberately decides to mess with Jamison when they meet by not telling him he's Jamison's business partner's brother. Jamison thinks Noah is a kid when that’s not the case. Jamison also is concerned about their age difference when Noah shows interest in him. However, all of Jamison’s hesitation flies out the window when they have sex. I guess you could call it the ‘healing power of the magic dick.’ All problems solved.

There’s a lot of monologue in this story, I mean a lot. And with that monologue comes a lot of telling. There is so much telling for such a short book, I had to restrain myself from skim reading and I almost never, ever skim read. Another problem with the monologue was that the characters’ voices were pretty much the same. The only time there was distinction with their voices was during the dialogue, but that disappeared as soon as the monologue began again.

I do like the title of the book, it’s clever, but I don’t think there’s anything special about this story that will make it stick in my mind. The Power of Peppermint is a fast, no-angst read with too much monologue and telling. I won’t be re-reading this, but if you’re looking for a quick Christmas read to pass the time, it’s okay. I want to give this 2.5 stars, but I’ll give it 3 Stars because Goodreads doesn’t allow half stars.

A cute quick Christmas story.

The initial confusion over identities was unnecessary, and unlikely, but once that was cleared up, things ran more or less smoothly.

For those who care, this is alternate 3rd person pov.
