When you see the grade level you may be wondering, why would a 18 year old want to read this. This book is very heart warming, I honestly feel as if people of all ages should just read it. The words spoken are so motivational, he tries and gets turned down so many times, the story just gives a pure sense of joy. The part I would say that could use some fixing is the characters blurting out but in the book he mentions that he wants everyone to know even though we all have our own chaos the best way is together. To know yes, we are different but we each just have our own ways and that is perfectly fine, just be yourself and accept who you are. ( ) I’m very glad that i got to read this book and learned about the incredible human being named Jim Henson. I can’t believe that i never knew the creator of one my favorite shows ever the SESAME STREET. This book not only talks about Jim Henson life, but it also shows the importance role the family plays in encouraging kids to achieve what they want. The illustrations are really amazing and the way the story is told is very entertaining and engaging as well. Family support is extremely important, kids really believe in their parents and want their parents to believe in them as well. I would recommend this book not only to early elementary students, but to adults and parents in particular. I would give it 100 starts if i could. A depiction of the life of Jim Henson, "I am Jim Henson (Ordinary People Change the World)", gives a look into the life of the well known cartoonist. I enjoyed the writing about his life and found new facts which I didn't know. The first person perspective was interesting and helped keep me engaged as the book guided me through his life. The cartoonish and almost comic book type style of illustration was very appropriate for a book about a famous cartoonist. This was a good book, I learned facts about Jim Henson. I do believe that it is too long for lower level so I chose not to read it to my students, instead regular ed first graders. I also didn't like how the book was constructed. Reading the story to reading the comic strips were a bit much for the students to attend to the story. The pictures are detailed and colorful they enjoyed finding the Sesame Street characters throughout the story. This book is about how Jim Henson got his start in television. He knew as a kid that he wanted to create content for children that they would enjoy. I believe that the author was trying to explain how he felt about his "Muppets", as he calls them. All of his puppets are different and this can show kids that being different is ok. It also teaches children to be nice to someone even though they may look different than you. I believe that children will be very interested in this book because of the colors and the way that the pictures are drawn. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
