I didn't like this quite as much as the first because it was more action than character development. Maybe it is serving as a somewhat awkward bridge to an excellent book three in the series... I hope! ( ) While vol 1 of Mighty Jack was a great deal of world building, this volume is jammed with action and adventure. Lots of little interesting character developments here as readers get to know this world a little more. Long time fans of Hatke's work will be blown away by the last page. Be prepared. Loved it from cover to cover. Picks up right where Mighty Jack left off, with Jack and Lilly following Maddy to rescue her. They encounter some pretty dangerous creatures and are separated: Lilly is brought to "majestic goblin hideaway" (a sewer) where they feed her and pump some goblin blood into her. They explain they used to live above in the tower with "old ones," but then the giants came. Jack, meanwhile, is trying to rescue Maddy from the giants, who want to feed her to their "beast." Lily fights the goblin king to avoid marrying him, then becomes the new king and leads the goblins above to fight the giants and rescue Jack and Maddy. They make their final escape on a dragon who calls Maddy "lady" and with whom she communicates; the dragon says, "Green life has returned. The world-links are being reestablished. It would seem that you've healed this place, Jack." One magic bean is left, but Maddy, Jack, and Lilly decide to save it for next summer. An epilogue brings characters from Zita the Spacegirl into Mighty Jack's world: they could use help saving the world. Crossover sequel to come?? sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"Like a bolt from the blue, Jack's little sister Maddy is gone--carried into another realm by an ogre. When Jack and Lilly follow Maddy's captor through the portal, they are ready for anything . . . except what they find waiting for them in the floating crossroads between worlds. Even the power of their magic plants may not be enough to get them back to earth alive. Alone and injured, Jack and Lilly must each face their own monsters--as well as giants who grind the bones of human children to feed their "beast" and a fearsome goblin king in the sewers down below. But when Jack finds himself in a tough spot, help comes from the most unlikely person: the goblin king!" --page [4] of cover. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
