Election Day is a book that is relatively easy to follow even for a reader that does not have a great grasp of the words on the page. The book is relatable for every kid that has been in a classroom before. The pictures in the book do a good job of telling the story so even a child who cannot read English can follow along with the story just by the pictures. The point the book is trying to reinforce is the importance of being honest, and although the book does a good job of it, it does not do a great job. The story although relatable is somewhat boring. The protagonist is a new student and although it details some of the feelings a new student may feel, I personally believe that it does so in a boring, surface level way. ( )

The students of Mrs. Connors class have a class president election. The students make all these outrageous promises except for the new student who just says she'll do her best. ( )

On election day, all the children running make unrealistic promises, except the new girl. This is Becky’s first day, and she is nervous, but she wants to give it a try. She promises only to do her best, and wins! ( )
